Dec 19, 2011The Leinster Junior Championships are coming up very soon, on the 7th-8th and 14th-15th January in the Stillorgan Park Hotel in Dublin. These have been extremely successful in recent years and this one promises to be bigger and better than ever. All juniors should consider playing one of these events. Oct 3, 2011The 2011-12 Primary and Secondary Leagues will be starting soon. The format is the same as last year, except that there will be four players per team instead of five in the Primary division. You can download the entry form or the invitation which have more details, or enquire by email to David Murray. The closing date for entries is Friday October 14.
June 20, 2011For something different: a bughouse (swap chess) tournament is coming up in July.
Swap Chess Tournament in aid of Temple Street Childrens Hospital.
Saturday 16th of July, in the Teachers Club, Parnell Square. Registration from 2.00pm.
Games 2.15 to 5.30pm followed by prizegiving. Entry fee 10 euro per person.

Scoil Bhride have won the LSCA Primary League! They beat Ballyroan 4.5 - 0.5 in a hard-fought final to become the first LSCA Primary Champions. Both teams had to defeat some very strong opponents on the way to the final and we expect this tournament will only get tougher and more popular next year. Congratulations to all who played.
May 8, 2011Two junior tournaments that are coming up in Dublin city centre:
- The Mick Germaine Cup on May 28. A competition for teams of four under sixteen years of age. Players must be unrated or under 900 on the latest ICU rating list. Download flyer here
- The Rising Star tournament on 11 June. A rapidplay event for juniors and under 1300s. Contact Darren McCabe
Leinster players won the recent Irish Junior Championships in Ballinasloe this weekend in 4 out of 5 age groups. Congratulations to Padraig, Conor, Eoin and Ryan and everyone else who did well. Report on the ICU website here.
March 2011Congratulations to the Leinster Under 16 team who won the Interprovincial Championships held recently in Ballinasloe. The team was Govan Joliffe-Byrne, Andrew Kyne-Delaney, Rory Ellard, Luke Gardiner, Ben Cullen, Michael Donnelly. The U19 team took the competition down to the last few minutes but eventually were outmatched by a more experienced Munster team.
March 31, 2011The secondary LSCA Leagues have finished for the year. Gonzaga were crowned champions at Senior and Junior level and were denied the clean sweep by St Benildus in the Minor division. Remarkably, both the Junior and Minor events were won by their school's second team. The primary division has reached the semifinal stage. Full results here.
February 17, 2011A new Leinster Junior Rating List was published on 17 February 2011. It includes results from school championships, junior tournaments and league competitions around Leinster.
Jan 15, 2011The Leinster Junior Championships 2011 were held in Bray on Jan 8-9 and were a great success. The event was dominated by Bray/Greystones and Harold Boys youngster Conor O'Donnell who won 3 events and was just pipped by Cormac O'Brien of Gonzaga in the U19 tournament. Full crosstables here.
